According to Jesse Chacón, Minister of Science, Technology and Intermediate Industries, the Venezuelan Cantv will start offering DTH next December this year. ZTE and Ericsson were said to be interested in being granted the project (the decision would be taken in July). Whether the selection will be carried out through bidding or close process has not been defined.

The Japanese Sony assured that TV sets fitted with DVB would be manufactured in Mexico and that they would be commercialized in Colombia. The first devices will reach the country at the beginning of 2010 for the South African World Soccer Cup. In the meantime, the National Television Commission is running over requirements to be met by manufacturers.
